For Immediate Release

Hudson – On Tuesday, April 30th, Operation Unite Education and Cultural Arts Center celebrated another year of academic and community service achievements and creative accomplishments. Students from Hudson, Catskill, Chatham, New Lebanon and Taconic Hills High Schools received monetary awards. In addition, 8 additional students received brand new laptops through our Each One, Reach One program. Youth in Action students were awarded for their participation in the WorkForce Development program which incorporates job readiness skills, community awareness and business internship at The Second Show. Kuumba Dance & Drum Academy students performed several numbers and had the crowd up on their feet. This year’s event was held at the beautiful Hudson Hall.

At Operation Unite, education is at the forefront of all programming.  College preparatory programs such as Junior and Senior Track help students navigate through the college entry process.  “Junior Track” helps students research colleges and identify their interests, whereas those in “Senior Track” are getting help with their college applications, essay writing and identifying scholarships. Junior and Senior Track meet on alternate weeks. In addition, Operation Unite also offers “Building Up Hudson” a Bard College based program. Weekly, Bard College students come to Operation Unite for tutoring, college development workshops and to discuss college related topics.

Mission

The mission of Operation Unite is to produce well rounded, progressive youth who will enter adulthood with a sense of direction, self-esteem and social consciousness and subsequently reinvest themselves into the community from which they come.
